Work
A few of the shows and rooms that taught me the most.
Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards
Hawaiʻi’s music awards are a long night: category after category, presenters, performers, band changeovers, and a room full of the musicians I grew up listening to. I’ve called the show for multiple seasons. The job is keeping a big, emotional night on schedule without anyone feeling rushed off the stage.
Show caller
Nā Lei Aloha Lūʻau, Hyatt Regency Waikīkī
A Hawaiian show for visitors from all over the world. As technical director I’m responsible for the show running right every single night: the cues, the audio and video, and the crew that makes it all happen.
Technical director
Sheraton Waikīkī ballroom
A full ballroom, a live band on stage and screens on both sides of it. The view I like best: from the console, with the whole room in front of me.
Ballroom show, September 2025

Hawaiian Island Ministries
Audio services for Hawaiian Island Ministries, mixing front of house on a Yamaha CL5 with JBL and L-Acoustics in the system. Speech that has to land in every seat, and a band that has to feel right on the same console.
FOH engineer

New Year’s show, Grand Wailea
A live band on an outdoor stage, a countdown and fireworks over Wailea. There is exactly one midnight, so everything has to be right well before it.
Grand Wailea, Maui

Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Kamehameha Schools
Programs where the audience, the protocol and the message all carry weight. I produced events for both under Nalu Media.
Producer
Kawaiahaʻo Church
A historic room with real acoustics and a congregation that deserves to hear every word. I ran A/V there, and the church is still a client today.
A/V director, now consultant
Hilton Hawaiian Village and Grand Wailea
Three years of ballrooms, breakouts and general sessions in two of the busiest event hotels in the state, with formal training in rigging, RF coordination and system design along the way.
Ballroom and conference AV, 2016 to 2019
A few rooms from those years: a draped stage under truss, the lava rock wall outside the Grand Wailea ballroom and a pool deck set for an evening reception.

New Hope Oʻahu
Ten years, from camera to A1 and service producer. Weekly services with a full band, a big congregation and a broadcast running at the same time.
Camera, lighting, A1 and service producer, 2010 to 2020
From the floor
Galas, award nights, receptions and dance floors from my hotel AV years. Each one built, run and struck with the crew. Tap any photo to see it larger.

Photos from my own portfolio. New work goes up on @nalumedia on Instagram.
Tell me about the show.
Date, room, rough headcount, and whatever is keeping you up at night. I answer every request myself, usually the same day.
