Venues

Hotel ballrooms, breakout rooms, state and county venues, private halls and lawns. Here’s where I work and what each kind of room needs.

Hotel ballrooms and meeting space

Most Waikīkī and resort hotels have an in-house AV company with a contract that touches every event in the building. Outside production is usually allowed, but it often comes with a patch fee, a power charge, house rigging requirements, or all three. I read that part of your hotel contract before you sign it, and I work alongside the in-house team instead of against them.

Breakouts are where budgets quietly disappear. Four rooms with a projector, a lav and a laptop feed add up fast. I’ll right-size each room, and share crew across rooms where the schedule allows.

State and county venues

Convention halls, shells, parks and civic spaces come with paperwork: permits, insurance certificates, power plans and noise rules. I put those in the schedule from the start, so nobody is chasing a signature the day before the show.

Private venues

Places like Koʻolau Ballrooms in Kāneʻohe give you more freedom with vendors and a lot of natural beauty to work with. They still need someone who knows the load-in, the power, and how sound carries in that particular room.

Outdoors

Trade winds, passing showers, generators and neighbors. Outdoor shows need a weather call time, a rain plan, and a system aimed so your audience hears it and the next property over doesn’t.
